REGG'Go is a "Contemporary Ancient" fusion of roots dancehall reggae music linked with a DC Go Go beat. Now listened to as its own genre of music, this concept was originated by Ras Lidj and has continued to progressively develop since its conception. Our Mission
The one thing that we are setting out to achieve is to be the first band from DC to carry the Go-Go sound in a circular progression to Africa, its original place of origin. |

RAS: With experience being my best teacher and having fully accepted Rastafari living as a way of life for me, in 1991 I was given the name Ras Lidj by a few of the Rastafari Elders, priests and teachers, namely Ras Pidow and Ras Irice. Its origin is Ethiopia and the language is Amharic. Ras means "head" and Lidj means "prince" or "son." I think the elders’ reason in choosing this name was because the reggae group we had formed then, Soul Defender Posse, would always jokingly call me the "yankee boy DJ." They began to explain to them that yankee is a mentality and I definitely didn't have a yankee mentality and, as far as the word boy, I was to only think of myself as a child of God. I'm definitely a leader; thus came the name, Ras Lidj. More
